My husband and 2 sons (aged 2 and 4) have just returned to Ireland after a fantastic family holiday in Le Bois Dormant. It was our first experience of a holiday in a French campsite and we were very impressed.
The accommodation (we chose a 2 bed excellence) really was excellent. Modern, spotlessly clean with lots of space. The partially covered decking area was wonderful for dining.
We didn’t avail of the kids’ club or nighttime entertainment but heard very positive reviews from other guests.
Having read other reviews, I would agree that the convenience store on site is quite expensive but then again, what convenience store isn’t? It has the basics milk, fresh bread etc. and is a great amenity to have on site.
There is a Votre Marché and Super U both within close proximity by car.
The highlight of the holiday for our boys and in turn for us, was the swimming pool. As parents of 2 young boys, both of whom are non swimmers but love the water, their safety in the pool/pool area was our main priority & concern.
We need not have worried. The Fun Pass system ensures that children cannot enter or leave the pool area unaccompanied .
While the kids are in the water, the lifeguards are doing a superb job. The pools/slides are supervised continuously from 10am-7pm. In busy times of the day, 2 lifeguards are often stationed in one area.
The constant presence of lifeguards at the poolside and their attentiveness was so reassuring. They do their jobs exceptionally well & have a very nice approach in dealing with guests in doing so.
All members of staff we encountered were very pleasant and friendly. All of whom had a great standard of english.
In conclusion, Le Bois Dormant was a wonderful introduction to French holidays and was the perfect place for families with young children!
We hope to return next year.
First time here and was not disappointed. Far better than I was expecting. Booked 3 bed mobile through Sibiu. Spacious clean and had every mod con. Dishwasher washing machine, even the shower was powerful. Lovely decking area with a hot plate bbq. Loads of outdoor seats, sun bed and green area for my boys to kick the ball. Park was very safe and everyone had respect for each other on the road. We were in the back area and had a different entrance which was a bonus. Wasn’t bothered at all by the noise from Luna park.. it actually added to the atmosphere. We even got to see a fireworks display from our decking one night. Train ran every 20/30 min around the park but enjoyed the walk so didn’t use it much. The pool area was brilliant. Safe, secure and spotless. Well serviced by lifeguards. Never any problem getting sun bed or chairs. Always someone moving on so beds were constantly freeing up..the animation team were fantastic. Always had a smile on there faces and brilliant with the kids. Shows were amazing, professional and well organized.. plenty to do for all ages. Will be visiting again. Thanks siblu 😀
Nice easy family holiday
As campsites go this is a pretty good one. Lots of facilities - a nice pool, a lake with a beach and lots of entertainment. My teenage kids enjoyed it, having a mixture of sunbathing and activities. Also good to be 20min from the beach for surfing.
